Aim:
To provide multi-disciplinary training for professionals who work with older people, in order to develop knowledge and skills to address alcohol related harm.
Objectives:
To develop an understanding of the reasons why people drink alcohol.
To consider attitudes to people with alcohol related problems.
To understand the range of alcohol related problems experienced by older people.
To explore approaches to helping older people with alcohol related problems.
To provide tools and interventions for staff to use.
To develop knowledge regarding local resources and relevant service providers.

Visiting Lecturer (UWE)
Lydia Thomas – Commissioning Officer, Alcohol Misuse, Wiltshire Council.
Who should attend:
Pharmacy staff
GP practice staff e.g. practice nurses
Wiltshire Community Health Service staff i.e. community hospital staff, district
nurses, occupational and physiotherapists
Domiciliary Care Agency staff/workers
Residential and Nursing Home Staff
Age UK staff and volunteers
Other Wiltshire staff who work with older adults.
