From 2 April 2012 wage incentives are available for employers who recruit an 18-24 year-old from the Work Programme for a job lasting at least 26 weeks.

In response to the challenge of youth unemployment the Government announced a £1billion Youth Contract to help young unemployed people get a job. The Youth Contract, which launches in April 2012, will provide a wide range of new opportunities for 18-24 years olds and one of these is a wage incentive grant available to employers who recruit a 18-24 year old who is participating in  the Work Programme.  The Work Programme treats the long term unemployed as individuals and allows providers such as The Learning Curve greater freedom to tailor the right support to the individual needs of each customer.

We are currently working with a wide range of young people on the Work Programme who are actively looking for work and we could therefore support your recruitment process and enable you to access the wage incentives.

Incentives Available:

£2,275 for jobs of 30 hours or more a week lasting at least 26 weeks
£1,137.50 for jobs of between 16 and 29 hours a week lasting at least 26 weeks

Employers can claim the payment after the 26 weeks threshold but small businesses (less than 50 employees) may be able to claim a payment at 8 weeks to help with their cash flow. We also understand that employers can apply for more than one incentive grant.  If you are an employer based in Wiltshire, Swindon or Bath who is considering employing a young person from the Work Programme please contact Rachel Loxston at Rachel.loxston@learningcurve.org.uk to register your interest.

If you successfuly recruit an eligible young person a representative from JHP Employability will be in touch with you to progress your claim.
