Six young mums have successfully completed Jamie’s Home Cooking skills course through The Learning Curve at Canberra Children’s Centre in Melksham and celebrated  with their babies and tutors Catherine Maxwell (tutor) and Jodie Brett (Outreach for Canberra) at Jamie’s Italian in Bath where a formal presentation was made on Monday 16th July 2012 by the Head Chef, Eric.

The Learning Curve has piloted Jamie's Home Cooking Skills course in collaboration with 4Children at their Canberra Children’s Centre, which has provided the ideal opportunity to begin teaching cooking skills to young parents. This is a Level 2 provision which focuses on giving young people the skills to prepare delicious and nutritious home-cooked food - using fresh ingredients.

Gail McKay, Delivery Manager, Young People’s Learning from the Learning Curve commented “This has been a fantastic opportunity for this group of young parents and it’s been such a success we hope to continue with the programme further and offer to a wider audience”.

Commenting upon the course, Twixie Lewis, the Centre Co-ordinator for Canberra Children’s Centre said:  “Encouraging parents to understand their children’s nutrition not only helps to support children’s development but also enables families by giving them the skills to plan and prepare delicious, fun, inexpensive but nutritious meals.”
