TSNLA is represented on the Skills Funding Agency Advisory Forum and this group recently established an External Advisory Group to assist it with plans for future ESF spending by the Agency. TSNLA Director John Hacking is attending the group and will be providing regular feedback to members on issues raised and ensuring that there is a Third Sector perspective on the group.

The Group last met on the 26th June and will meet again on the 14th August.

The ESF External Advisory Groups’ Terms of Reference are :

The purpose of the European Social Fund External Advisory Group is to help the Skills Funding Agency to implement its ESF Co-Financing work more effectively, by providing end to end external consultancy and advice to the Skills Funding Agency on the following:

•  To advise on the focus of flexibilities and priorities for spending Agency Priority 2 and 5 ESF in the remainder of the 2007-2013 ESF programme.

•  Drawing on the Agency’s past record of delivering ESF skills provision, assess how it can build on this, as well as the new approach for the final tranche of 07-13 funding, to contribute to the strategic development of the Agency’s position on the 2014-2020 ESF programme at national level;

•  To commission further work on the 2014-2020 programme as required to produce Agency contributions to wider stakeholder consultations and programme development
