Local tradesman Ashley Law was really put to the test following a medical incident at work.
Ashley, who works for repairs and improvement company Silcoa, was at the family home of Sam Mosley fitting a radiator when her young daughter Amaiya, 11, accidentally stabbed the palm of her hand with a kitchen knife.
Ashley, having recently attended Emergency First Aid at Work training, delivered by The Learning Curve, knew exactly what to do.
He took control of the situation and talked Sam through how to stop the bleeding using a tea towel, pressure and raising Amaiya's arm in the air.
Sam said: "Ashley was brilliant. He jumped in and saved the day!"
A recent statistic, released by St John's Ambulance, has revealed that only one in five people know basic First Aid so Ashley really was in the right place at the right time.
Antoinette, First Aid tutor at The Learning Curve said:
"First Aid is such an important skill and you never know when you may be in a situation where it is required. Many people would panic in his situation but Ashley's training enabled him to keep calm and deal with the situation effectively."
