Press Release!!!

A pioneering network of local charities in Wiltshire and Swindon, The Learning Curve Network, was praised in a report published this week, and received a silver award (grade 2), following a recent inspection by the Adult Learning Inspectorate.

Inspectors particularly liked the way that the network organises local training for adults who because of age, disability or personal circumstances, are unable to attend mainstream classes. Learners like the classes because they are local, flexible and “not like school”.

The Learning Curve Network is one of the first “Voluntary Sector Learning Consortia” in the country, acting as a kind of “virtual college” enabling local charities to arrange training for their members, staff, volunteers and local communities with funding from the local Learning and Skills Council. A range of courses is offered covering IT, literacy and numeracy, personal development and qualifications needed in the workplace.

Operations Director Jaclyn Oldman said “we are thrilled to receive such a positive report. Many people join our courses after a long break from education. The Learning Curve Network provides them with a supportive environment to return to learning and gain qualifications.”

Note:The Adult Learning Inspectorate (the equivalent of Ofsted for Adult Education providers) inspects all publicly funded training providers and grades them on a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 being the highest award. The Learning Curve Network received an overall grade of “2 – good
